2009 Domaine Rollin Pere et Fils Pernand-Vergelesses, Cote de Beaune, France

This was an $18 bottle of wine at release but has shot up recently to nearly $40 at auction. I guess I got a good deal on it for $32 but I’m generally not a fan of French White wines so this may be a stretch.

A – Very soft, cream color but other than that, not pushing any boundaries on appearance.

S – Nose is full of pears, honey and floral notes of lavender. I get a bit of egg whites and mossy oak

T – This was a roller coaster of a wine. Up front, Kiwi, Ripe pears and a boost of acidity but in the middle, a rustic bitter oak with figs rolls through but then it falls off at the end with root vegetables, unwashed grapes and musty oakiness. I get a hint of vanilla.

O – I would say this reminds me of Muscat wine that we have in florida which is cheap and unimpressive. If this was a $10 bottle sure but I won’t be buying this one again. Going to give it a solid 3.
