Tasting Lineup

I was thinking about this last night in how many of the top 100 beers I’ve had. Putting together a list of what I’ve had and what I’d like to have going forward. In 2012, I actually didn’t make a list. I had what sounded good and traded for beers that sounded cool mostly offered up by others without really looking at the top 100 and trying to get those beers. So, this is a nice exercise to do.

RateBeer Top 50: I’ve had 25 of the top 50 beers on RateBeer.

Beer Advocate Top 100 (Most Popular): I’ve had 60 of the top 100 beers on Beer Advocate

Fortunately for me, 11 of the top 100 beers on BA are Hill Farmstead beers. Living near the brewery made having all of those beers pretty easy. Too easy in fact. Heady Topper and Lawson’s each have a spot on the top 100 as well so, removing those and I only have 47 of the top 100 which is more in line with the RateBeer 25 out of 50.

Either way, I have a few targets for 2013 I’d like to try. I’m not going to give up any insane beers to try them but these are the beers It would be cool try to in 2013:

  • 3 Bourbon Barrel Aged Vanilla Bean Dark Lord
  • 8 Peg’s G.O.O.D. Rare D.O.S.
  • 14 Kaggen! Stormaktsporter
  • 18 Duck Duck Gooze
  • 23 Dark Horse Bourbon Barrel Aged Plead The 5th
  • 31 Cable Car
  • 32 Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Lord Imperial Stout
  • 33 Peg’s G.O.O.D. RareR D.O.S.
  • 37 Hoppy Birthday
  • 57 Imperial Eclipse Stout – Elijah Craig (20 Year)
  • 65 Churchill’s Finest Hour 2012
  • 73 Bell’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Batch 9000
  • 88 Bourbon Barrel Aged Hi-Fi Rye

If anyone who reads this blog has these sitting around, I’d love to try them. I know these are all pretty hard to get and I’m not really an ISO sort of guy so I won’t post some sort of thread about it on a beer forum but those would be fun to try. So that’s 60 in the top 100 so far and these are 13 more I’d be interested in trying for a total of 73 out of 100. Not a bad goal for the next 12 months. This list is always changing I guess so maybe some of these won’t be on the top 100 next year? It’s hard to say.

Thanks for reading this blog for the past 9 months! Here’s to another year.
